Nature of damage:

  • About 90% yield can be reduced due to the attack of “Brinjal Shoot & Fruit Borer” insect.
  • Before fruiting the larvae grows through eating the inner side of shoot
  • The larvae enters into the fruit by holing and grow up through eating fruit

 

Applicable to suppress the pest:

BSFB-phero marketed by Ispahani Agro Limited is very effective to manage ‘Brinjal Shoot and Fruit Borer’ insect.

Dosage:

  • Pheromone trap would be set in the land with a distance of 10-12 meter (20 hands) in a square look.
  • For every 2.5 decimal of land each trap would be used (15 lures for 1bigha or 33 decimal).
  •  A lure remains effective till 45-60 days.
  • It needs to use two lures in one season.

 

Time of Pheromone setting in the field:

  • Trap should be set in the field within 1-2 week after sowing

Infestation period:

  • Attack starts within 12-15 days after transplant.
