Pest Name: Common cutworm

Scientific name: Spodoptera litura

Nature of damage:

  • Caterpillar harms to cauliflower, cabbage through eating leaves.100% yield may loss in case of severe attack.
  • At early stage larvae harms through eating leaves and tip
  • After fruiting it enters into the fruit and completely damaged
  • Serious yield loss of cotton, tobacco and arum through eating leaves.

Crop: Cauliflower, Cabbage, Water melon, Tobacco, Arum, Cotton, Tomato 

Applicable to suppress the pest:

Spodo-Lure marketed by Ispahani Agro Limited is very much effective to manage Common cutworm of cauliflower, cabbage, water-melon, tobacco, arum, cotton, tomato etc.

Infestation period:

  • Within 12-15 days after sowing of saplings (cauliflower, cabbage, tomato, tobacco) infestation starts.
  • In cotton infestation starts within 30-35 days after sowing seeds.

 

Time of pheromone setting in the field:

  • Pheromone trap should be set in the field within one week after transplanting of cauliflower, cabbage, tomato, tobacco.
  •  In cotton and arum pheromone trap should be set within 30-35 days after sowing seeds.

 

Dosages:

  • Each trap will be used for every 5 decimal of land which will remain effective for 60 days in the field
  • 5-6 traps will be required for 33 decimal/ bigha.
